Boat Review: War Eagle 961 Blackhawk

War Eagle Boats have a reputation for being the toughest boats on the water. All War Eagle models are built using all-welded aluminum and the wings transom design that creates superior handling, even in choppy waters.

    If you are looking for a boat that can fish as hard as it hunts, then check out the War Eagle Blackhawk series. These models come fully loaded and are built on an 18°V hull that not only provides a smoother ride that most competing brands but will keep you dry. The best feature of the Blackhawk is that the layout can be customized with either a side or center console.

  As noted above, the 961 Blackhawk is built on an 18°V hull that creates a smoother ride even in choppy water. This boat, along with the wings transom, has a reverse chine giving it exceptional cornering ability. It is 19’5” long and 89” wide.

   The 961 Blackhawk is a great performing boat with a variety of motor sizes. It is available in either center or side console, with or without live well, and with varying standard equipment.

   Standard equipment for the center console 961 Blackhawk (rated for up to 115 hp) includes a full skin out with carpet, vinyl or spray liner, 16 gallon fuel tank, center console with steering, bait well and cushion with back rest, side handrails on console, 9” windshield, bilge pump, bracket with wiring for 24V trolling motor, running lights with rocker switches, leaning post with four rod tubes, bow storage, metal gas tank cover, two passenger seats with storage, two seats with spiders, two pole extensions, four cleats, wings transom, V-bow, V-hull, upgraded paint option, three base plates in front low deck and a single base plate in rear high deck.

  Standard equipment for the side console 961 Blackhawk  (rated for 150 hp) includes a full skin out with carpet, vinyl or spray liner, 16-gallon fuel tank, 9” windshield, running lights with rocker switches, bilge pump, side console with live well, bracket with wiring for 24V trolling motor, storage box with driver and passenger seats, two seats with spiders, two pole extensions, bow storage, metal gas tank cover, four cleats, upgraded paint option, three base plates in front low deck, one base plate in high rear deck, V-bow and a V-hull.

  War Eagle also offers 21 and 17-foot Blackhawk models. There area also models aimed at waterfowl hunters that utilize air-cooled swamp ouboards for shallow water operation. The Sportsman line is popular due to the variety of models and set ups.
